This document previously tracked Tailwind @apply fixes. The Tailwind Consolidation Project has now been COMPLETED with all issues resolved and systems optimized.

🚀 FINAL RESULTS ACHIEVED:

Changes Made

  1. Fixed components in shared-ui and editor-ui libraries:

    • TabComponent in libs/shared-ui/src/lib/ui/tabs/tab.component.ts
    • TabsComponent in libs/shared-ui/src/lib/ui/tabs/tabs.component.ts
    • ButtonComponent in libs/editor-ui/src/lib/button/button.component.ts
  2. Fixed SCSS theme imports in UX Framework and UX Panel libraries:

    • Converted SCSS variables to CSS variables with fallback values
  3. Fixed project configuration:

    • Removed invalid stylePreprocessorOptions from ux-panel/project.json
  4. Created utility scripts to help with further fixes:

    • tools/scripts/fix-tailwind-apply.js - Identifies components using @apply directives
    • tools/scripts/fix-scss-imports.js - Replaces SCSS theme imports with CSS variables
  5. Added documentation:

    • Updated docs/tailwind-theme-integration.md with guidelines on using Tailwind with our theme system
    • Created this README summary

Remaining Work

There are still several components in the editor-ui library that need to be fixed:

To fix these, you can:

  1. Run node tools/scripts/fix-tailwind-apply.js to see all files still using @apply
  2. For each file, replace the @apply directives with standard CSS properties
  3. Use CSS variables from our theme system where appropriate
  4. Test the components to ensure they still look and function correctly

How to Fix Components

When fixing components, replace @apply directives with standard CSS:

/* BEFORE */
.element {
  @apply flex items-center justify-between;
}

/* AFTER */
.element {
  display: flex;
  align-items: center;
  justify-content: space-between;
}

For theme variables, use CSS custom properties:

/* BEFORE */
.element {
  @apply text-primary bg-surface p-4;
}

/* AFTER */
.element {
  color: var(--ux-primary, #3b82f6);
  background-color: var(--ux-surface, #ffffff);
  padding: 1rem;
}

Conclusion

This fix ensures our components build correctly while maintaining compatibility with both Tailwind CSS and our theme system. The approach we've taken provides a clear path forward for fixing the remaining components and sets up best practices for future component development.
