CREATE RAILWAY SERVICE
Documentation management API with real-time MongoDB sync
🚂 Create Railway Service - Simple Steps
The Issue
Railway CLI needs interactive terminal, so let's use the dashboard instead.
In Your Railway Dashboard (2 clicks)
You're looking at the "Docs Api" project with "Apply 3 changes" button showing.
Step 1: Create Empty Service
- Look for the "+ New" button (top right area)
- Click it
- Select "Empty Service" (not GitHub)
Step 2: Name the Service
- It will create an empty service
- Click on the service name
- Rename it to: "backend-docs-api"
Step 3: Deploy Our Code
Now go back to terminal and run:
cd /Users/fguijarro/developer/repos/editor
# Load environment
source .env.local
# Set Railway token
export RAILWAY_TOKEN="$RAILWAY_DOCS_TOKEN"
# Deploy to the service we just created
/Users/fguijarro/.nvm/versions/node/v22.15.0/lib/node_modules/@railway/cli/bin/railway up --service backend-docs-api --detach
Alternative: Build Locally and Use Railway CLI
Or we can just build locally first:
# Build the app
nx build backend-docs-api --configuration=production
# The output is in: dist/apis/backend-docs-api/
Then in Railway dashboard:
- Upload the dist folder
- Set start command:
node main.js
Simplest Option: Let Me Know
Would you like me to:
A) Guide you through creating the empty service in Railway (then we deploy via CLI)
B) Create a different deployment approach (maybe via GitHub Actions)
C) Just build locally first so you can verify everything works
Let me know and I'll help! The code is 100% ready - we just need to get it uploaded to Railway. 🚀
