STORAGE CONSOLIDATION
Documentation for Developers
📦 Storage Library Consolidation
Migration from libs/storage/* to libs/storage-system
Date: October 21, 2025
Status: ✅ COMPLETE
🎯 Overview
We have consolidated all storage libraries into a single, unified library for better maintainability and simpler architecture.
📊 What Changed
Before (Old Structure - DEPRECATED)
libs/
├── storage/
│ ├── storage-core/ ❌ REMOVED
│ ├── storage-angular/ ❌ REMOVED
│ └── storage-sync/ ❌ REMOVED
Old Import Paths:
import { StorageService } from '@storage/angular'; // ❌ OLD
import { GgStorage } from '@storage/core'; // ❌ OLD
import { FirestoreSyncAdapter } from '@storage/sync'; // ❌ OLD
After (New Structure - CURRENT)
libs/
└── storage-system/ ✅ UNIFIED LIBRARY
├── src/
│ ├── core/ ← Core storage engine
│ ├── angular/ ← Angular integration
│ ├── sync/ ← Sync adapters (MongoDB, Firestore, API)
│ └── index.ts ← Single entry point
New Import Path:
import { StorageService, GgStorage, FirestoreSyncAdapter } from '@storage-system'; // ✅ CORRECT
✅ Benefits of Consolidation
1. Simplified Architecture
- Before: 3 separate libraries to maintain
- After: 1 unified library
2. Easier Imports
- Before:
@storage/angular,@storage/core,@storage/sync - After:
@storage-systemfor everything
3. Better Type Safety
- All types now in one place
- No more cross-library type mismatches
- Consistent API across all features
4. Simpler Configuration
- One
tsconfig.base.jsonpath alias - One
ng-package.jsonconfiguration - One build target
🔧 Migration Guide
For New Code
✅ Always use @storage-system:
import { StorageService } from '@storage-system';
import { autoFlashState } from '@storage-system';
import { FirestoreSyncAdapter } from '@storage-system';
import { MongoDBSyncAdapter } from '@storage-system';
For Existing Code
If you find old imports, update them:
// ❌ OLD (Don't use)
import { StorageService } from '@storage/angular';
import { GgStorage } from '@storage/core';
import { FirestoreSyncAdapter } from '@storage/sync';
// ✅ NEW (Use this)
import { StorageService, GgStorage, FirestoreSyncAdapter } from '@storage-system';
📝 Configuration Updates
tsconfig.base.json
Before:
{
"paths": {
"@storage/core": ["libs/storage/storage-core/src/index"],
"@storage/angular": ["libs/storage/storage-angular/src/index"],
"@storage/sync": ["libs/storage/storage-sync/src/index"]
}
}
After:
{
"paths": {
"@storage-system": ["libs/storage-system/src/index"],
"@storage-system/*": ["libs/storage-system/src/*"]
}
}
Build Commands
Before:
yarn nx build storage-core
yarn nx build storage-angular
yarn nx build storage-sync
After:
yarn nx build storage-system
🗂️ Library Structure
Internal Organization
The unified library maintains logical separation internally:
libs/storage-system/src/
├── core/ ← Core storage engine
│ ├── gg-storage.ts
│ ├── adapters/
│ ├── policy-engine.ts
│ └── performance-monitor.ts
├── angular/ ← Angular integration
│ ├── storage.service.ts
│ ├── providers/
│ ├── directives/
│ └── components/
├── sync/ ← Sync adapters
│ ├── adapters/
│ │ ├── firestore-sync-adapter.ts
│ │ ├── mongodb-sync-adapter.ts
│ │ └── api-sync-adapter.ts
│ └── models/
└── index.ts ← Public API entry point
Public API (src/index.ts)
// Core exports
export * from './core/gg-storage';
export * from './core/types';
// Angular exports
export * from './angular/storage.service';
export * from './angular/providers';
// Sync exports
export * from './sync/adapters/firestore-sync-adapter';
export * from './sync/adapters/mongodb-sync-adapter';
export * from './sync/adapters/api-sync-adapter';
// Models
export * from './models';
🎯 Key Features Available
All features are now available from @storage-system:
Core Storage
import { GgStorage, StorageService } from '@storage-system';
Flash Persistence
import { autoFlashState } from '@storage-system';
Cloud Sync
import {
FirestoreSyncAdapter,
MongoDBSyncAdapter,
ApiSyncAdapter
} from '@storage-system';
Angular Integration
import {
provideGgStorage,
StorageService,
StorageConfigDirective
} from '@storage-system';
✅ Verification Checklist
To verify your codebase is updated:
# ❌ Should return 0 - no old imports
grep -r "@storage/angular" src/
grep -r "@storage/core" src/
grep -r "@storage/sync" src/
# ✅ Should find imports - using new unified library
grep -r "@storage-system" src/
