UNIVERSE MAP MODULE EDITOR COMPLETE
Ecosistema completo para organización y gestión de contenido con interfaces espaciales
Universe Map: Module Editor Mode - COMPLETE ✅
Date: November 12, 2025
Status: Phase 1 Complete - Universe Map is now a UNIVERSAL MODULE EDITOR
🎯 What We Built
The Universe Map has been transformed from a universe-only editor into a UNIVERSAL MODULE EDITOR that can edit ANY module type with full visual capabilities.
✅ Completed Features
1. Edit Structure Button in Module Manager
- Location: Module Manager (
/space/:spaceSlug/modules) - Feature: New "Edit Structure" button on every installed/active module card
- Action: Opens Universe Map in module-editor mode with the selected module loaded
- Navigation: Passes
moduleId,moduleName,moduleTypevia query params
// Navigation example:
this.router.navigate(['/space', spaceSlug, 'universe-map'], {
queryParams: {
mode: 'module-editor',
moduleId: module.id,
moduleName: module.name,
moduleType: module.type
}
});
2. Module-Editor Mode in Universe Map
- Detection: Reads
mode=module-editorfrom query params - Behavior: Loads the specified module and its children
- Canvas: Shows all child modules of the editing module
- Header: Displays custom banner showing what module is being edited
- Title: Updates to show the module name being edited
// Module editor mode check in ngOnInit:
if (mode === 'module-editor' && moduleId) {
this.editorMode.set('module-editor');
this.editingModuleId.set(moduleId);
this.loadModuleForEditing(moduleId);
}
3. Real-Time Config Updates
- Trigger: Every time a module changes (create, update, delete, move)
- Action: Syncs parent module's config with current children structure
- Data Synced:
- Child module IDs, types, names
- Module positions on canvas
- Child configurations
- Last modified timestamp
// Config structure:
{
...existingConfig,
children: [
{
id: 'child-123',
type: 'widget',
name: 'Widget 1',
position: { x: 100, y: 200, isManuallyPositioned: true },
config: { /* child config */ }
}
],
lastModified: '2025-11-12T...'
}
4. Save as Variant
- Location: Universe Management header (module-editor mode only)
- Feature: "Save as Variant" button
- Action: Clones current module with all its structure and config
- Metadata: Marks as variant with source module reference
- Navigation: Automatically switches to edit the new variant
// Variant config:
{
...sourceModule.config,
isVariant: true,
sourceModuleId: 'source-123',
variantCreatedAt: '2025-11-12T...'
}
5. Enhanced Module Creation
- Context-Aware: Creates modules as children of the editing module in module-editor mode
- Position: Places modules at exact drop coordinates
- Naming: Smart naming (Galaxy 1, Galaxy 2, etc.)
- Reload: Automatically reloads to show new module
- Selection: Auto-selects newly created module
- Sync: Triggers parent config sync
🎨 User Experience Flow
From Module Manager → Visual Editor
- Browse Modules: User navigates to
/space/:spaceSlug/modules - Select Module: User sees list of installed modules
- Edit Structure: User clicks "Edit Structure" button
- Universe Map Opens: Canvas loads with module's internal structure
- Visual Editing: User can:
- See all child modules
- Drag-drop new modules from library
- Reposition modules
- Configure modules via properties panel
- Delete modules
- Create connections (future)
- Save as Variant: User can clone the module with customizations
- Real-Time Sync: All changes immediately sync to module config
Visual Indicators
- Banner: Shows "Module Editor: Editing [Module Name] (type)"
- Instructions: Context-specific guidance
- Stats: Shows child module counts by type
- Button: Prominent "Save as Variant" button

Architecture Decisions
- Query Instead of Direct Get: Used
query({})instead ofgetModule()becausegetModuleById()is private - Async Config Sync: Made sync async to avoid blocking UI
- Throttled Position Saves: Position updates are throttled to 200ms
- Context-Aware Parent: Parent ID determined by editor mode
- Signal-Based State: All editor mode state uses Angular signals for reactivity
🚀 What This Enables
Immediate Benefits
- Edit ANY Module: Not just universes - galaxies, worlds, pages, navigation, features, widgets, etc.
- Visual Structure: See and edit module hierarchies visually
- Real-Time Sync: Changes immediately reflected in module config
- Variant Creation: Easy cloning and customization
- Seamless Integration: Works with existing Module Manager
Future Possibilities
- Template System: Create templates from any module
- AI Enhancement: Generate module structures with AI
- Connection Editor: Visual data flow and dependencies
- Layout System: Structured zone-based editing
- Collaborative Editing: Multi-user module editing
- Version Control: Track module variants and changes
- Marketplace Publishing: Share module variants

🎯 Next Steps (Modularity Path)
Now that Universe Map is a universal editor, the next phase is enhancing the Modularity tool:
- Smart Module Packager: Select pages/flows/widgets → AI suggests structure
- Visual Schema Builder: Drag-drop configuration field builder
- AI Module Generation: Natural language → module structure
- Template System: Save modules as reusable templates
- Marketplace Integration: Publish and discover modules
💡 Key Insights
What Worked Well
- Reusable Canvas: The same canvas works for universes AND individual modules
- Query-Based Loading: Flexible data loading works for any module type
- Signal Reactivity: Reactive state made mode switching seamless
- Config Sync Pattern: Clean separation of UI and data sync
Challenges Solved
- API Differences: Worked around private
getModuleById()usingquery() - Context Determination: Smart parent ID detection based on editor mode
- Reload Strategy: Different reload paths for universe vs module-editor mode
- Type Safety: Proper TypeScript throughout with no
anyabuse
Design Philosophy
- Universal Not Specialized: One canvas for all, not separate editors
- Real-Time Not Batch: Changes sync immediately, not on save
- Visual Not Forms: Drag-drop and canvas, not configuration forms
- Extensible Not Hardcoded: Works for future module types automatically
🎉 Conclusion
Universe Map is now a UNIVERSAL MODULE EDITOR capable of editing ANY module type with full visual capabilities, real-time syncing, and variant creation. This transforms it from a universe-specific tool into a foundational visual editor for the entire platform.
The user can now:
- Click "Edit Structure" on ANY module
- Visually edit its internal structure
- Create variants with one click
- Have all changes automatically synced
This is a MAJOR step towards our goal of becoming "the most powerful, modern, and robust platform builder in the world." 🚀
