Modular Universe - Development Plan
THIS PLAN IS NOW PART OF THE ULTIMATE PLATFORM BUILDER MASTER PLAN
Project Goal: Build THE MOST ADVANCED PLATFORM BUILDER IN THE UNIVERSE - A complete system where everything is a reusable module, from the smallest widget to entire universe structures.
Status: 🔴 Phase 0 - Foundation & Architecture
Last Updated: November 14, 2025
🚀 CRITICAL CONTEXT
See Master Plan: ULTIMATE-PLATFORM-BUILDER-MASTER-PLAN.md
This document focuses on the modular-universe component within the larger vision. The module browser work completed previously is Phase 3.1 in the master plan. We must now go back to Phase 0 (Foundation) before proceeding.
🎯 PROJECT VISION (Updated)
Core Objective (Expanded)
Build THE ULTIMATE PLATFORM BUILDER that:
- ✅ Everything is a reusable module (modules build modules)
- ✅ Structure IS modules (breakthrough concept)
- 🎨 Visual canvas-based universe building
- ⚡ Logic blocks + flows power functionality
- 📝 Visual page editing with editor-web-lib
- 🤖 AI-powered module generation
- 🌍 Platform-agnostic export (Web, Flutter, React Native)
- ⚡ Sub-100ms interactions, Ferrari-level UX
The Three Pillars
🌌 modular-universe + 📝 editor-web-lib + ⚡ singularity = ULTIMATE POWER
(Structure) (Content/Pages) (Logic/Flows)
Breakthrough Concept
ONLY universe and galaxy modules have GRID systems. All other modules live WITHIN the grid.

[mode]="'selector'"
[viewMode]="'compact'"
(moduleSelected)="assignModule($event)">
</lib-module-browser>
3.2 Build System Fixes 🔧 ACTIVE
Status: Troubleshooting in progress
Issues:
TypeScript Path Resolution
- Custom build script needs path remapping refinement
- Nested output directories generated by TypeScript
- Cross-library imports failing
Test File Compilation
storage-systemtest files using Node.js APIs- Need
@types/nodeor exclusion from compilation
Module Resolution Errors
core-angularcannot find@libs-core/module-base- Build order dependencies not fully resolved
Current Actions:
- Refining
build-angular-library.jspath remapping logic - Adjusting
tsconfig.lib.jsonfor affected libraries - Testing build order:
core-models→module-base→core-angular
3.3 Testing 📋 PENDING
Unit Tests (Not Started):
- Module browser component tests
- Filter logic tests
- Search functionality tests
- Access control filtering tests
- Favorites persistence tests
Integration Tests (Not Started):
- Section config panel integration
- Module selection workflow
- Theme integration
- Responsive behavior
E2E Tests (Not Started):
- User selects module workflow
- Search and filter workflow
- Favorites workflow
Phase 4: Optimization & Polish 📋 PLANNED
Goal: Performance tuning and UX refinement
4.1 Performance
- Implement virtual scrolling for 100+ modules
- Debounce search input (avoid excessive filtering)
- Lazy-load module manifests (backend integration)
- Optimize computed signals (memoization)
- Measure and profile render performance
4.2 Accessibility
- Add ARIA labels to all interactive elements
- Keyboard navigation (arrow keys in grid)
- Focus management (trap focus in modals)
- Screen reader announcements
- High contrast mode support
4.3 UX Enhancements
- Drag-and-drop module assignment
- Recently used modules section
- Module preview on hover (tooltip or panel)
- Bulk operations (select multiple)
- Custom sorting (drag to reorder favorites)
4.4 Visual Polish
- Loading skeletons during data fetch
- Smooth transitions (enter/leave animations)
- Micro-interactions (button clicks, card hovers)
- Custom icons for module types
- Theme customization options
Phase 5: Backend Integration 📋 PLANNED
Goal: Connect to backend API for persistence and sync
5.1 API Integration
- Fetch modules from backend (
/api/modules) - Sync favorites to user profile (
/api/user/favorites) - Track recently used modules (
/api/user/recent-modules) - Module search API endpoint
- Real-time module updates (WebSocket or polling)
5.2 Caching Strategy
- In-memory cache with TTL - Make sure we are using the storage-system/flash-persistence system for this, and that we are not creating a new cache system.
- Optimistic UI updates
5.3 Error Handling
- Network error recovery
- Retry logic with exponential backoff
- Fallback to cached data
- User-friendly error messages
Phase 6: Advanced Features 🚀 FUTURE
Goal: Next-level capabilities for power users
6.1 AI-Powered Features
- AI-suggested modules based on section context
- Natural language search ("find a calendar widget")
- Auto-categorization of custom modules
- Predictive module recommendations
6.2 Customization
- User-defined categories
- Custom filters (save filter presets)
- Module collections/groups
- Shareable module sets
6.3 Analytics
- Track most-used modules
- Module usage heat map
- Space-builder insights dashboard
- Module performance metrics

💡 DESIGN PRINCIPLES
1. Modularity First
Every feature is a self-contained, reusable module. The module browser itself exemplifies this principle.
2. Performance by Default
Use signals, computed values, and lazy loading. Never block the UI thread.
3. Beautiful & Intuitive
Ferrari-level UX means visual beauty, smooth interactions, and zero cognitive load.
4. Flexible & Extensible
Design for today's needs while anticipating tomorrow's requirements.
5. Access Control Built-In
Security and visibility control are first-class concerns, not afterthoughts.
