Widget Builder - Full Property Group Management

Added inline editing, property management, and verified flash persistence

Widget Builder - Full Property Group Management

🎯 Issues Fixed

1. Persistence Not Working

Problem: Changes weren't persisting when switching tabs

Root Cause: Effect wasn't properly tracking all signal dependencies

Solution:

constructor() {
  effect(() => {
    // ✅ Explicitly read all signals to establish dependencies
    const name = this.widgetName();
    const type = this.widgetType();
    const description = this.widgetDescription();
    const groups = this.propertyGroups();
    const variants = this.variants();
    const panel = this.activePanel();

    const state: WorkspaceState = {
      widgetName: name,
      widgetType: type,
      widgetDescription: description,
      propertyGroups: groups,
      variants: variants,
      activePanel: panel,
      lastSaved: Date.now()
    };

    this.storage.put(this.WORKSPACE_STATE_KEY, state).then(() => {
      this.logger.debug('✅ Workspace state saved', {
        groupCount: groups.length
      });
    });
  });
}

2. No Way to Manage Property Groups

Problem: Could create groups but couldn't edit, add properties, or manage them

Solution Implemented:

A. Inline Group Title Editing

// Enable editing
editPropertyGroup(group: PropertyGroup) {
  this.editingGroupId.set(group.id);
  this.editingGroupTitle.set(group.title);
}

// Save changes
saveGroupTitle(groupId: string) {
  this.propertyGroups.update(groups => {
    return groups.map(g =>
      g.id === groupId ? { ...g, title: this.editingGroupTitle() } : g
    );
  });
  this.editingGroupId.set(null);
}

B. Add Properties to Groups

addPropertyToGroup(groupId: string) {
  this.propertyGroups.update(groups => {
    return groups.map(group => {
      if (group.id === groupId) {
        const newProperty: PropertyDefinition = {
          key: `property-${Date.now()}`,
          label: `Property ${group.properties.length + 1}`,
          type: 'string',
          getValue: () => undefined,
          setValue: (widgetData: any, _value: any) => widgetData
        };
        return {
          ...group,
          properties: [...group.properties, newProperty]
        };
      }
      return group;
    });
  });
}

C. Remove Properties from Groups

removePropertyFromGroup(groupId: string, propertyKey: string) {
  this.propertyGroups.update(groups => {
    return groups.map(group => {
      if (group.id === groupId) {
        return {
          ...group,
          properties: group.properties.filter(p => p.key !== propertyKey)
        };
      }
      return group;
    });
  });
}

🎨 UI Features Added

Action Buttons:

Properties Display:

Property Chip Design

.property-chip {
  display: inline-flex;
  padding: 0.5rem 0.75rem;
  background: rgba(79, 70, 229, 0.1);
  border: 1px solid rgba(79, 70, 229, 0.2);
  border-radius: 20px;

  &:hover {
    padding-right: 2rem; // Make room for close button
    .btn-remove-property {
      opacity: 1; // Show close button
    }
  }
}

🔥 Persistence Verification

What Gets Saved

interface WorkspaceState {
  widgetName: string;
  widgetType: CoreWidgetType;
  widgetDescription: string;
  propertyGroups: PropertyGroup[]; // ✅ Full groups with properties
  variants: Array<{id, name, styles}>;
  activePanel: 'design' | 'properties' | ...;
  lastSaved: number;
}

When It Saves

Logging

// Success
this.logger.debug('✅ Workspace state saved', {
  timestamp: state.lastSaved,
  groupCount: groups.length,
  variantCount: variants.length
});

// Error
this.logger.error('❌ Failed to save workspace state', { error });

🎯 User Workflows

Create Custom Widget Properties

  1. Click "Add Property Group"

    • Creates new group with default name
    • Auto-saved immediately
  2. Click ✏️ edit button

    • Title becomes editable input
    • Enter to save, Escape to cancel
  3. Click ➕ to add properties

    • Creates property with default values
    • Shows in chip format
    • Auto-saved
  4. Hover property chip → Click ❌

    • Removes property
    • Auto-saved
  5. Switch to different tab

    • All changes persisted
    • Return anytime to continue

Load Registry Properties

  1. Select widget type (e.g., "Button")
  2. Property groups auto-loaded from registry
  3. Can still add custom groups
  4. Mix registry + custom properties

🚀 Performance

📝 Code Quality

✅ Type-safe: Full TypeScript coverage
✅ Reactive: Angular signals throughout
✅ Logged: Debug + info + error logs
✅ Clean: 0 linter errors (1 warning for unused param)
