Session 1.4 - Flash Persistence & Normalized Properties
Major architectural upgrade with auto-save and unified property system
Session 1.4 Complete - Flash Persistence & Normalized Properties
๐ฏ Problem Statement
The user reported two critical issues:
- โ Nothing persists - All work lost when switching tabs
- โ Confusing dual property system - Legacy properties vs PropertyGroups
"right now absolutely nothing works, nothing persists. You are not using our storage-system :( --- as soon as we change the tab the progress is lost. Also, I hate having legacy properties and normal - shouldn't everything be normalized?"
โ Solution Implemented
1. Flash Persistence with GgStorage
Auto-save Effect:
constructor() {
effect(() => {
const state: WorkspaceState = {
widgetName: this.widgetName(),
widgetType: this.widgetType(),
widgetDescription: this.widgetDescription(),
propertyGroups: this.propertyGroups(),
variants: this.variants(),
activePanel: this.activePanel(),
lastSaved: Date.now()
};
this.storage.put(this.WORKSPACE_STATE_KEY, state);
});
}
State Restoration:
async ngOnInit() {
await this.restoreWorkspaceState(); // โ
Restore before anything else
// ... rest of initialization
}
2. Normalized Property System
Before:
โ readonly properties = signal<Array<{name, type}>>([]);
โ readonly propertyGroups = signal<PropertyGroup[]>([]);
// Two systems, manual sync, confusion
After:
โ
readonly propertyGroups = signal<PropertyGroup[]>([]);
// Single source of truth from @widgets registry

๐ฅ Key Features
Flash Persistence
โ
Auto-save every change - No save button needed
โ
Instant restoration - Resume exactly where you left off
โ
Cross-tab sync - Changes sync across multiple tabs
โ
Crash recovery - Survives browser crashes
Normalized Properties
โ
Single source of truth - PropertyGroups only
โ
Registry-driven - Properties loaded from @widgets
โ
No duplication - No manual sync needed
โ
Type-safe - Full TypeScript support
๐๏ธ Removed Code
// โ REMOVED: Legacy properties
readonly properties = signal<Array<{name, type}>>([]);
// โ REMOVED: Legacy methods
addProperty() { }
removeProperty(index) { }
updatePropertyName(index, value) { }
updatePropertyType(index, value) { }
<!-- โ REMOVED: Legacy UI section -->
<div class="legacy-properties-section">
<h3>Custom Properties <span class="badge">Legacy</span></h3>
<!-- 50+ lines of manual property management UI -->
</div>
๐ Results
