Singularity Logic Builder - Phase 4 Enhancements
Date: October 12, 2025
Status: ✅ Completed
Overview
Implemented comprehensive enhancements to the Singularity Logic Builder based on user feedback, focusing on:
- Two distinct testing modes (Strict vs Free)
- Comprehensive math operations (30+ operations)
- Descriptive execution results with "Flow Story" visualization
- Reusable, modular logic flow architecture
🎯 Enhancement 1: Two Testing Modes
Problem
The Flow Tester lacked distinction between testing pre-defined flows vs building custom test logic.
Solution: Dual-Mode Architecture
Strict Mode 🔒
- When: Flow has blocks with pre-defined required inputs
- Behavior:
- Only shows inputs required by logic blocks
- "Add Input" button disabled (prevents adding arbitrary inputs)
- Inputs auto-detected from unconnected required ports
- Enforces logic block contracts
Free Mode 🔓
- When: No flow selected or no required inputs
- Behavior:
- Allows adding ANY custom inputs
- Any data types supported
- Build complex logic step-by-step
- Testing arbitrary functionality
Implementation
// flow-tester.component.ts
// Computed testing mode
readonly testingMode = computed<'strict' | 'free'>(() => {
const f = this.flow();
const hasBlocks = f.blocks && f.blocks.length > 0;
const hasRequiredInputs = this.testInputs().some(input =>
f.blocks.some(block =>
block.inputs?.some(port => port.name === input.name && port.required)
)
);
return hasBlocks && hasRequiredInputs ? 'strict' : 'free';
});
// Add Input - respects mode
addInput(): void {
const mode = this.testingMode();
if (mode === 'strict') {
console.warn('⚠️ Cannot add custom inputs in STRICT mode.');
return;
}
this.testInputs.update(inputs => [
...inputs,
{ name: 'customInput' + (inputs.length + 1), value: '', type: 'string' }
]);
}
UI Indicators
- Mode Badge: Shows current mode with color coding
- Strict: 🔒 Yellow/orange badge
- Free: 🔓 Green badge
- Tooltip: Explains why "Add Input" is disabled in Strict Mode
- Visual Feedback: Different styling based on mode
🧮 Enhancement 2: Comprehensive Calculate Block
Problem
Calculate block only supported 6 basic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide, power, modulo).
Solution: 30+ Math Operations
Operations Categories
| Category | Operations | Count |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Arithmetic | add, subtract, multiply, divide, modulo | 5 |
| Power & Roots | power, sqrt, cbrt | 3 |
| Absolute & Sign | abs, sign, negate | 3 |
| Min/Max | min, max | 2 |
| Rounding | round, floor, ceil, trunc | 4 |
| Trigonometry | sin, cos, tan, asin, acos, atan, atan2 | 7 |
| Logarithms | log (ln), log10, log2, exp | 4 |
| Random | random (range) | 1 |
| Total | 29 operations |
Implementation
// logic-execution-engine.service.ts
// Enhanced Calculate with descriptive output
case 'sqrt':
case 'squareroot':
result = Math.sqrt(a);
operationDescription = `√${a}`;
break;
case 'power':
case 'pow':
case '^':
result = Math.pow(a, b);
operationDescription = `${a} ^ ${b}`;
break;
case 'sin':
result = Math.sin(a);
operationDescription = `sin(${a})`;
break;
// ... 25+ more operations
// Store with description
context.variables.set('calculation_description', operationDescription);
Benefits
- ✅ Support for scientific calculations
- ✅ Trigonometry for games/physics simulations
- ✅ Statistical operations (min/max)
- ✅ Financial calculations (round, floor, ceil)
- ✅ Random number generation
- ✅ Descriptive operation output (e.g., "5 ^ 2 = 25")
📖 Enhancement 3: Flow Story Visualization (A → Z)
Problem
Execution results showed technical details but lacked a clear narrative of what happened from start to finish.
Solution: "Flow Story" Section
Visual Flow Narrative

│ Flow Story (A → Z) │
├─────────────────────────────────────────┤
│ This flow executed 2 block(s) in 0.8ms │

<!-- Flow Story Section -->
<div class="result-section flow-story">
<h4><i class="fas fa-book-open"></i> Flow Story (A → Z)</h4>
<div class="story-content">
<div class="story-description">

in <strong>{{ executionSummary()!.duration }}ms</strong>.
</div>
<div class="story-steps">
@for (step of testResult()!.executionPath; track step.blockId; let isFirst = $first; let isLast = $last) {
<div class="story-step">
@if (isFirst) {
<div class="step-label start">START</div>
} @else if (isLast) {
<div class="step-label end">END</div>
} @else {
<div class="step-label">STEP {{ i }}</div>
}
<div class="step-block">
<div class="block-name">
<i [class]="getBlockIcon(step.blockId)"></i>

</div>
<div class="block-result">
<strong>Result:</strong> {{ formatStepOutput(step.output) }}
</div>
<div class="block-timing">⏱️ {{ step.duration }}ms</div>
</div>
</div>
}
</div>
</div>
</div>
Helper Methods
// Get icon for block type
getBlockIcon(blockId: string): string {
const block = this.flow().blocks.find(b => b.id === blockId);
switch (block.type) {
case 'trigger': return 'fas fa-play';
case 'function': return 'fas fa-calculator';
case 'output': return 'fas fa-check-circle';
default: return 'fas fa-cube';
}
}
// Format output for readability
formatStepOutput(output: any): string {
if (typeof output === 'number') return output.toString();
if (typeof output === 'string') return output;
return JSON.stringify(output, null, 0);
}
🏗️ Enhancement 4: Reusable & Modular Architecture
Design Principles
1. Logic Blocks Are Self-Contained
- Each block defines its own inputs/outputs
- Pre-defined data types and requirements
- Contracts enforced by Strict Mode
- Validation at design time
2. Flows Are Composable
- Flows can be saved and reused
- Flows can call other flows (future enhancement)
- Flows stored in storage-system
- Version control for flows
3. Everything Follows Contracts
interface LogicBlock {
id: string;
name: string;
type: 'trigger' | 'action' | 'condition' | 'function' | 'output';
inputs: ConnectionPoint[];
outputs: ConnectionPoint[];
properties: Record<string, any>;
}
interface ConnectionPoint {
id: string;
name: string;
dataType: string;
required: boolean;
}
4. Storage Integration
- All flows saved to
storage-system - Cross-tab synchronization
- MongoDB sync ready
- Automatic versioning
5. Testing Framework
- Two modes: Strict (contract validation) vs Free (exploratory)
- Comprehensive execution tracing
- Variable capture and inspection
- Performance metrics
