GALAXY TYPE FIX OCT 26

🔧 Galaxy Type Conflict Fixed - October 26, 2025

Status: ✅ FIXED!
Issue: Type conflict between space-map.types.ts Galaxy and multiverse.types.ts Galaxy

🎯 THE PROBLEM

Error: Argument of type 'Galaxy[]' (from space-map) is not assignable to 'Galaxy[]' (from multiverse)
  Type 'Galaxy' is missing properties: planetIds, moduleIds

Root Cause: Two different Galaxy interfaces with DIFFERENT properties:

  1. space-map.types.ts Galaxy (Legacy System)

    • Has pageIds?: string[] (optional)
    • Complex with visual themes, relationships, positioning
    • Used for old space map visualization
  2. multiverse.types.ts Galaxy (New Architecture)

    • Has planetIds: string[] (required)
    • Has moduleIds: string[] (required)
    • Cleaner, simpler, focused on new architecture

✅ THE SOLUTION

Renamed Legacy Galaxy → SpaceMapGalaxy

Changed ALL references in space-map.types.ts:

// BEFORE
export interface Galaxy {
  pageIds?: string[];
  // ... lots of properties
}

// AFTER
export interface SpaceMapGalaxy {
  pageIds?: string[];
  // ... lots of properties
}

Updated All References (6 locations)

  1. ✅ ICosmos.galaxies: Galaxy[] → SpaceMapGalaxy[]
  2. ✅ PageWithRelations.galaxies: Galaxy[] → SpaceMapGalaxy[]
  3. ✅ GalaxyWithPages.galaxy: Galaxy → SpaceMapGalaxy
  4. ✅ SpaceMapSchema.galaxies: Galaxy → SpaceMapGalaxy
  5. ✅ createDefaultGalaxy(): Returns SpaceMapGalaxy
  6. ✅ convertGalaxyGroupToGalaxy(): Returns SpaceMapGalaxy
  7. ✅ convertGalaxyToGalaxyGroup(): Takes SpaceMapGalaxy

Updated Exports in core-models/index.ts

/**
 * Multiverse Architecture types
 *
 * NOTE: Galaxy is the NEW multiverse Galaxy
 * For legacy Space Map galaxy, use SpaceMapGalaxy from space-map types
 */
export {
  Galaxy, // NEW multiverse Galaxy (has planetIds, moduleIds)
  // ... other types
} from './multiverse.types';

🎨 TYPE HIERARCHY (Now Clear!)

@libs-foundational/core-models exports:

1. Galaxy (from multiverse.types.ts)
   - NEW architecture
   - Has: planetIds, moduleIds
   - Use for: New multiverse features

2. SpaceMapGalaxy (from space-map.types.ts)
   - LEGACY system
   - Has: pageIds, visual themes
   - Use for: Old space map visualization

📊 FILES CHANGED

│   └── space-map.types.ts ✅ (7 updates)
└── index.ts ✅ (clarified exports)

🧪 VALIDATION

# Before fix:
❌ Type 'Galaxy' is not assignable to type 'Galaxy'
❌ Missing properties: planetIds, moduleIds

# After fix:
✅ No type conflicts
✅ Clear distinction between legacy and new
✅ All references updated

📝 MIGRATION GUIDE

For New Code (Multiverse)

import { Galaxy } from '@libs-foundational/core-models';

const galaxy: Galaxy = {
  id: 'galaxy-1',
  universeId: 'universe-1',
  name: 'My Galaxy',
  slug: 'my-galaxy',
  planetIds: ['planet-1', 'planet-2'], // ✅ Required
  moduleIds: ['module-1'], // ✅ Required
  createdAt: new Date(),
  updatedAt: new Date()
};

For Legacy Code (Space Map)

import { SpaceMapGalaxy } from '@libs-foundational/core-models';

const galaxy: SpaceMapGalaxy = {
  id: 'galaxy-1',
  name: 'My Galaxy',
  type: GalaxyType.CORE,
  category: { /* ... */ },
  position: { /* ... */ },
  visualTheme: { /* ... */ },
  pageIds: ['page-1', 'page-2'], // ✅ Legacy property
  // ... other space map properties
};

🎯 KEY TAKEAWAYS

  1. ✅ Clear Naming - SpaceMapGalaxy vs Galaxy (multiverse)
  2. ✅ Type Safety - No more ambiguous imports
  3. ✅ Migration Path - Legacy code still works
  4. ✅ Future-Proof - New code uses clean Galaxy type
