SIMPLIFIED PHILOSOPHY
Ecosistema completo para organización y gestión de contenido con interfaces espaciales
Simplified Canvas Builder Philosophy
Date: 2025-11-24
Status: ✅ IMPLEMENTED
Impact: Critical UX improvement for non-developers
🎯 Core Philosophy
Before (Developer-Centric):
- ❌ Exposed flexbox controls (Direction: Row/Column)
- ❌ Manual justify/align settings
- ❌ Users could break design system
- ❌ Too complex for non-developers
- ❌ "Layout" tab with technical controls
After (Designer-Centric):
- ✅ Templates are the ONLY way to structure layouts
- ✅ Pixel-perfect, curated templates prevent bad design
- ✅ Users configure dimensions, not structure
- ✅ Foolproof for non-developers
- ✅ Simple tabs: Style, Position, Configuration
🚫 What Was Removed
1. "Layout" Tab
Why: Templates are selected from the left palette (drag & drop), not configured in the right panel.
Before:
Config Panel → Layout Tab → Visual Layout Selector (presets)
After:
Left Palette → Drag template → Drop on canvas
2. "Advanced" Tab (Entire Tab)
Why: No manual flexbox tweaking for end users.
Removed Controls:
- ❌ Direction (Row → / Column ↓)
- ❌ Justify Content (Start, Center, End, Space Between, Space Around)
- ❌ Align Items (Start, Center, End, Stretch)
- ❌ Gap (manual input)
- ❌ Wrap (No Wrap / Wrap)
Philosophy: Templates define structure. Users configure dimensions.
3. Flexbox Manual Controls
Why: These are developer tools, not designer tools.
What Users Should NOT Do:
- ❌ Change flex direction (breaks responsive design)
- ❌ Tweak justify/align (breaks visual consistency)
- ❌ Play with wrap settings (causes unpredictable layouts)
✅ What Remains (Simplified)
Tab Structure:
| Tab | Purpose | For Non-Developers |
|---|---|---|
| Style | Visual properties | ✅ Colors, padding, width, height |
| Position | Ordering & hierarchy | ✅ Move up/down, reorder |
| Configuration ✨ | Template/module settings | ✅ Sidebar width, gap, theme |
📐 How Templates Work Now
Template = Immutable Structure + Configurable Dimensions
Example: Split Sidebar Template
Structure (Immutable):
┌─────────────┬──────────────────────┐
│ Sidebar │ Main Content │
│ (fixed) │ (flexible) │
└─────────────┴──────────────────────┘
Configuration (User-Adjustable):
- Sidebar width:
200px - 600px(default: 300px) - Gap between regions:
0px, 16px, 1rem - Sidebar background: Color picker
User Cannot:
- ❌ Change to Column layout (breaks design)
- ❌ Make sidebar flex instead of fixed (breaks template)
- ❌ Swap sidebar and main positions (breaks structure)
🎨 User Workflow
Step 1: Pick a Template
- Drag "Split Sidebar Template" from left palette
- Drop onto canvas (root or nested section)
Step 2: Configure Dimensions (Optional)
- Click template section
- Go to Configuration tab
- Adjust sidebar width: 300px → 400px
- Change gap: 0px → 16px
- Pick sidebar background color
Step 3: Add Content
- Drag modules into template regions
- Example: Drag "Sidebar Navigation" into sidebar region
Step 4: Reapply Different Template (If Needed)
- Delete old template section
- Drag new template (e.g., "Two-Column Equal")
- Drop in same location
- Re-add modules
💡 Benefits of This Philosophy
1. Prevents Bad Design Patterns
Users can't accidentally:
- Create responsive nightmares (Row → Column on mobile breaks)
- Misalign content (Justify: Space Between when they meant Center)
- Overflow containers (No Wrap causes horizontal scroll)
2. Consistent Visual Language
All platforms built with templates:
- Share same design system
- Look professional
- Follow UI best practices
3. AI-Friendly
AI can:
- Recommend templates based on content type
- Generate template configurations
- Understand layout intent without parsing flexbox settings
4. Marketplace-Ready
Template modules are:
- Self-contained with configurations
- Reusable across projects
- Shareable via marketplace
- AI-generatable
🔧 Technical Implementation
Config Panel Tab Logic:
readonly availableTabs = computed(() => {
return {
layout: false, // REMOVED - templates from palette
style: true, // Always show (colors, padding)
position: true, // Always show (ordering)
configuration: hasTemplateOrModuleConfig, // Show if configurable
advanced: false // REMOVED - no flexbox tweaking
};
});
Info Banner for Templates:
When a template section is selected, the Style tab shows:
┌─────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ ℹ️ Template Layout │
│ │
│ This section uses a pre-designed │
│ template. To change the layout │
│ structure, drag a different template │
│ from the left panel. │
└─────────────────────────────────────────┘
📊 Comparison Matrix
| Scenario | Old Approach (Developer Mode) | New Approach (Designer Mode) |
|---|---|---|
| Apply Layout | Config Panel → Layout Tab → Pick preset | Left Palette → Drag template → Drop |
| Change Direction | Config Panel → Advanced → Direction: Row/Column | ❌ Not allowed (pick different template) |
| Adjust Sidebar Width | Config Panel → Advanced → Width input | Configuration Tab → Sidebar Width slider |
| Break Design | ✅ Easy (change direction, align, justify) | ❌ Impossible (templates are immutable) |
| For Developers | ✅ Flexible but dangerous | ⚠️ Use code editor for custom flex |
| For Designers | ❌ Too complex | ✅ Perfect (simple, visual) |

📝 Summary
User's Original Question:
