✅ MODULE CLICK FIXED - COMPLETE INTERACTION FLOW

Date: November 10, 2025
Issue: Nothing happens when clicking on modules
Status: ✅ FIXED

🐛 The Problem

When clicking on a module card in the universe canvas:

🔍 Root Cause

The ModuleCardComponent had output naming conflicts:

// ❌ BEFORE (Wrong)
@Output() OnClick = new EventEmitter<UniversalModule>();  // Capital O
@Output() OnSelect = new EventEmitter<UniversalModule>();  // Capital O

// Parent template was expecting lowercase:
(click)="onModuleClick(module, $event)"
(select)="selectModule(module)"

Angular convention: Output names should match event binding names (lowercase).

✅ The Fix

1. Fixed Output Names

// ✅ AFTER (Correct)
@Output() select = new EventEmitter<UniversalModule>();
@Output() dragStart = new EventEmitter<MouseEvent>();

// Removed 'click' output to avoid conflict with native click event

2. Updated Event Handler

onCardClick(event: MouseEvent) {
  // Emit select event (parent handles the click logic)
  if (!this.isDragging) {
    this.select.emit(this.module);
  }
}

3. Template Updated

<div
  class="module-card"
  ...
  (click)="onCardClick($event)"  <!-- Now passes event -->
>

🎯 Complete Interaction Flow (Now Working)

Step 1: User Clicks Module Card

👆 User clicks → DOM click event

Step 2: Module Card Component

// module-card.component.html
(click)="onCardClick($event)"

// module-card.component.ts
onCardClick(event: MouseEvent) {
  if (!this.isDragging) {
    this.select.emit(this.module);  // ✅ Emits module
  }
}

Step 3: Parent Canvas Receives Event

<!-- universal-canvas.component.html -->
<lib-module-card
  [module]="module"
  (click)="onModuleClick(module, $event)"  <!-- Native click -->
  (select)="selectModule(module)"          <!-- Custom select -->
  (dragStart)="onModuleDragStart(module.id, $event)"
/>

Step 4: Canvas Handles Selection

// universal-canvas.component.ts
selectModule(module: UniversalModule) {
  this.selectedModule.set(module);  // ✅ Sets selected module signal

  // Add to selected set
  const selected = new Set(this.selectedModules());
  selected.add(module.id);
  this.selectedModules.set(selected);
}

Step 5: Properties Panel Opens

// properties-panel.component.ts
@Input() set module(value: UniversalModule | null) {
  this._module.set(value);
  this.updatePortal(); // ✅ Opens portal with module properties
}

Step 6: Visual Feedback

<!-- module-card gets selected class -->
<lib-module-card
  [selected]="selectedModules().has(module.id)"  <!-- ✅ Highlights -->
/>

🧪 How to Test

Test 1: Basic Click

  2. ✅ Shift+Click second module (add to selection)
  3. ✅ Expected:
    • Both modules highlighted

    • Properties panel shows last selected

Test 3: Toggle Select

  1. ✅ Click module (selects)
  2. ✅ Ctrl+Click same module (deselects)
  3. ✅ Expected:
    • Module unhighlights
    • Properties panel closes

Test 4: Drag vs Click

  1. ✅ Enable "Move Mode"
  2. ✅ Click and drag module (moves it)
  3. ✅ Expected:
