Platform Generation — Progress Report
Audience: Team leads, stakeholders, and non-technical team members Date: March 11, 2026 Session: S206 (building on S198–S205)
What We're Building
GoGrab Space allows users to generate entire web applications by describing what they want. Our AI (Vitto) takes a description like "a soccer league management platform" and produces a fully working Angular application — with database, user management, and all the features.
The problem: Until now, the generated platforms looked correct on paper but couldn't actually run. They were missing the foundation — like building a house with walls but no foundation, plumbing, or electrical.
Timeline of Progress
Sessions 198–204: The Pipeline Was Built But Broken
What was achieved: Vitto could generate feature modules (e.g., "Players", "Teams", "Matches") and commit them to GitLab. The pipeline had 8 phases: ENHANCE → ANALYZE → DECOMPOSE → PLAN → EXECUTE → INTEGRATE → BACKEND-SETUP → DEPLOY.
What was broken: Generated platforms imported from @libs-core/*, @libs-foundational/*, @libs-ux/* — but those directories were empty. Every platform failed to compile. The AI generated the domain-specific code perfectly, but the shared infrastructure (data services, UI components, theme system, authentication) was missing.
Session 205: Preview System Built
The team built @libs-structural/platform-preview — a system to render generated platforms inside GoGrab Space using rspack/WASM. This works for static previews but couldn't show a running app because the generated code didn't compile.
Session 206 (Current): Foundation Fixed
This session fixed the root cause: we created a pre-built project template with all the necessary infrastructure.
What Changed
Created a Base Template (GitLab:
gograbspace/platform-base-template)- Contains 33+ shared libraries from our main codebase
- Includes UI components, data services, authentication, theming
- Verified: builds with zero errors
- Before/after comparison available via
before-changesbranch
Connected to Real Database
- Previously: generated platforms used fake/mock data
- Now: platforms use
UniverseDataServicewhich connects to our real backend - Each platform gets its own isolated data:
space_{spaceId}database withuniverse_{universeId}_{collection}collections - Full CRUD: Create, Read, Update, Delete — with search, pagination, sorting, and filtering
Automatic Setup
- When Vitto generates a platform, it now forks from the template instead of creating an empty repo
- The platform's space/universe context is automatically configured at startup
- Entity schemas are auto-registered in MongoDB with proper indexes
Modernized State Management
- Removed NGXS (legacy state library, 200KB+ overhead)
- All state now uses our own flash-persistence + Angular signals
- Lighter, faster, more capable
Pipeline Automation
- GitLab CI runs
yarn install && yarn buildautomatically on every commit - Feature branches build too (not just main/develop)
- Deploy to Cloudflare Pages on merge
- GitLab CI runs
What Each Change Achieves
| Change | Before | After | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base template | Empty libs/ directories |
33+ real libraries | Platforms can actually compile |
| UniverseDataCrudService | Raw HTTP to wrong endpoints | Correct CRUD via backend-api | Real data persists in MongoDB |
| PlatformBootstrapService | No space/universe context | Auto-configured from environment | CRUD calls know which database to use |
| NGXS removal | Heavy legacy dependency | Lightweight signals + flash-persistence | Smaller bundles, modern patterns |
| Template forking | Empty repo created | Fork from verified template | Every platform starts with a working foundation |
Current State
What works now:
- Template compiles with 0 errors (verified)
- Pipeline is wired to fork from template
- CRUD templates generate services that use real backend
- App shell includes proper API configuration
- CI/CD pipeline uses yarn and builds automatically
What still needs testing:
- End-to-end: trigger a real generation → clone → build → serve → test CRUD
- Preview system integration with template-based repos
Next Steps: ESM SDK on Cloudflare
The Vision
Instead of copying 1,178 source files into every generated platform, we will:
- Pre-compile all shared libraries into optimized JavaScript bundles
- Host them on Cloudflare's global CDN (300+ edge locations, ~5ms worldwide)
- Generated platforms reference them via URL — no source code duplication
This is like the difference between every restaurant growing its own wheat vs. buying flour from a shared mill.
What This Enables
- Faster generation: platforms are ~10-20 files instead of 1,000+
- Instant preview: libraries are pre-compiled, no build step needed
- Easy updates: fix a bug in a shared component → all platforms get it automatically
- AI-ready catalog: Vitto gets a machine-readable manifest of ALL 137 libraries with descriptions of what each does, so it can intelligently choose which ones each platform needs
Timeline
| Phase | What | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Source-copy template | Complete (S206) |
| Phase 2 | ESM SDK build pipeline | Planned (S207) |
| Phase 3 | Import maps in generated platforms | Planned (S207-208) |
| Phase 4 | Preview system integration | Planned (S208) |
Key Numbers
- 33 libraries ported from gspace1 to template
- 1,178 TypeScript files in the template (Phase 2 will eliminate this duplication)
- 0 build errors (verified)
- 4 backend APIs fully mapped (backend-api, AI, docs, Vitto)
- 108 files changed in the template fix commit
- 5 major architecture decisions logged to intelligence system
