🐛 Bug 10 — "Page Unresponsive" at 100% Completion (CRITICAL)

Symptom

After all 7 phases complete at 100% with all green checkmarks, Chrome shows "Page Unresponsive — You can wait for it to become responsive or exit the page." The page is completely frozen.

Root Cause: ~2-5.5 seconds of synchronous main-thread blocking

When the module-gen.completed SSE event fires, 6 heavy synchronous operations execute back-to-back without yielding to the browser's event loop:

# Operation File Line Duration
1 JSON.parse(manifestJSON) workflow-state.service.ts 549 500-2000ms
2 platformSummary computed signal vibe-universe-generator.component.ts 475-563 300-800ms
3 contextMode + contextSuggestions computed same 237-364 200-500ms
4 JSON.stringify(state) + sessionStorage.setItem same 938-968 300-500ms
5 buildGeneratedUniverseTree() same 2932-3034 200-500ms
6 broadcastNodeCreate loop (5 modules × tree) same 1260-1282 100-300ms

Total: 1,600-4,600ms of synchronous blocking — enough to trigger Chrome's "Page Unresponsive" threshold.

Detail on Each Blocking Operation

1. JSON.parse(manifestJSON) — The manifest for 5 modules with full code (visual + code output mode) is 5-10MB of JSON. JSON.parse() on this is synchronous and takes 500ms-2s.

2. platformSummary computed — When generatedManifest.set(manifest) fires, this computed signal immediately re-evaluates. It calls extractModulesFromNavigation() (loops through navItems), then for each of 5 modules calls extractModuleDataFromManifest() which maps entities/actions/embeddables through converter functions.

3. contextSuggestions computed — Triggered by mode change. Calls countTotalModules() which recursively traverses the entire module tree multiple times via recursive module.children calls.

4. sessionStorage persistence — JSON.stringify() on the full 5-module manifest + sessionStorage.setItem() is synchronous and heavy.

5. buildGeneratedUniverseTree — Creates deeply nested UniversalModule trees for all 5 modules using Promise.all, but the object creation inside is synchronous.

6. broadcastNodeCreate loop — Iterates over all modules and their tree nodes, broadcasting create events synchronously.

Fix: Break up the completion flow with requestAnimationFrame or setTimeout(0) yields

The fix pattern is to yield back to the browser between each heavy operation:

// In workflow-state.service.ts — handleWorkflowComplete:
private async handleWorkflowComplete(event: any): Promise<void> {
  // Step 1: Parse manifest in a microtask yield
  await new Promise(resolve => setTimeout(resolve, 0));
  const manifest = JSON.parse(event.manifestJSON) as ModuleManifest;

  // Step 2: Yield before setting signal (triggers computed cascade)
  await new Promise(resolve => setTimeout(resolve, 0));
  this.generatedManifest.set(manifest);
}
// In vibe-universe-generator.component.ts — completion handler:
private async onGenerationComplete(): Promise<void> {
  // Step 1: Update mode (triggers template re-render)
  this.mode.set('complete');

  // Step 2: Yield to browser to render success screen
  await new Promise(resolve => requestAnimationFrame(resolve));

  // Step 3: Persist to sessionStorage
  this.persistGenerationState();

  // Step 4: Yield again
  await new Promise(resolve => requestAnimationFrame(resolve));

  // Step 5: Auto-sync to canvas (async operations)
  await this.autoSyncModulesToCanvas();
}

Alternatively, use a Web Worker for the heavy JSON.parse/stringify:

// Parse manifest off the main thread
const manifest = await this.jsonWorker.parse(event.manifestJSON);
this.generatedManifest.set(manifest);

🐛 Bug 11 — Page Refresh Redirects to /landing Instead of Reconnecting

Symptom

During generation, navigating directly to http://localhost:6200/space/chrome-space-1/universe/paks-uni-1/vibe/process/modgen-9e2521fb redirects to /landing instead of reconnecting to the running generation.

Root Cause

The app's route guard (likely an auth or space-context guard) redirects to /landing on cold page load because the space/universe context hasn't been resolved yet when the route activates. The process/:processId child route loads the same component, but the parent route's guards fire first and redirect.

Fix

The route guard needs to:

  1. Recognize the /vibe/process/:processId route pattern
  2. Allow it through even on cold load (or resolve space context first)
  3. The component's ngOnInit should then call reconnectToGeneration(processId) as currently implemented

This is likely a guard ordering issue — the space context resolver runs AFTER the redirect check, so the guard sees no context and redirects.

File to Check

What's Working Well (Confirmed ✅)

  1. ProcessId URL redirect — /vibe/process/modgen-xxx appears on first SSE event
  2. No crash on template click — The previous freeze-on-click issue is resolved
  3. All 7 pipeline phases complete — ENHANCE through DEPLOY, all green
  4. 5 modules generated successfully — member-management, trainer-management, class-scheduling, workout-tracking, studio-dashboard
  5. Per-module progress in UI — "Generating module: X (n/5)" → "✅ X ready" shows in AI Activity feed
  6. Module name matching works — normalizeForMatch() correctly matches across naming formats
  7. Timeout protection works — No infinite hangs (all 5 modules completed within ~10 min)

What to Fix Next (Priority Order)

1. Bug 10 — Page Unresponsive at Completion (CRITICAL BLOCKER)

Without this fix, users can never see the success screen or deploy. This is the #1 priority.

Quick fix: Add await new Promise(r => setTimeout(r, 0)) yields between the 6 blocking operations listed above.

Better fix: Use Web Worker for JSON.parse/stringify, and requestAnimationFrame yields between signal updates and DOM-heavy work.

2. Bug 11 — Refresh Redirect (HIGH)

The process persistence feature works for URL generation but fails on reconnection due to route guard behavior. Check the parent space/universe route guards.

3. Deploy to Universe (RETEST after Bug 10 fix)

The MongoDB upsert fix hasn't been testable yet because the page crashes before showing the deploy button. Once Bug 10 is resolved, this needs retesting.
