Test Report: Module Generation modgen-6b995d73

Session: S138 | Date: 2026-02-24 Template: Fitness Studio (5 modules) | Gen ID: modgen-6b995d73

Executive Summary

Result: PARTIAL SUCCESS — Major breakthrough with critical remaining issues.

The extractCodeFiles() fix is working — LLM-generated files are now being written to disk for the first time across all 8+ tests. However, the pipeline produces a dual-file problem: new LLM-generated files are written at ROOT-level paths (modules/{name}/models/, modules/{name}/components/) while OLD scaffold garbage persists at src/lib/ paths (modules/{name}/src/lib/models/, modules/{name}/src/lib/services/). The scaffold fallback is still running and is NOT being replaced by LLM output.

Definition of Done: Pass/Fail Matrix

# Criterion Result Notes
1 EXECUTE.output.files contains >20 files (not null) PARTIAL 30+ .ts files on disk, but API returns output: {} (empty object) — files written to disk but NOT stored in MongoDB checkpoint
2 Model files: zero duplicate fields, proper TypeScript types PARTIAL NEW files (root-level) pass ✅ — OLD scaffold files (src/lib/) still have id: string; id: string; duplicates ❌
3 Service files: real method signatures, no of(null) PARTIAL NEW files (root-level) use real HttpClient ✅ — OLD scaffold files still 100% of(null) stubs ❌
4 Components use OnPush, inject(), Signals PARTIAL Uses inject() ✅, signal() ✅ — But changeDetection: 0 (numeric) instead of ChangeDetectionStrategy.OnPush (enum) ⚠️, missing takeUntilDestroyed() ⚠️
5 No @angular/material imports PASS ✅ No mat-* or @angular/material found in any generated file
6 All (click) handlers have matching .ts methods CANNOT VERIFY ❌ Zero HTML template files generated — .ts components reference templateUrl but no .html files exist
7 Scaffold fallback passes quality checks FAIL ❌ Scaffold output is IDENTICAL to pre-fix quality — all of(null), duplicate fields, wrong casing
8 Backend survives without crashing PASS ✅ Backend stable throughout, 131-137MB heap, no OOM
9 Files written to correct modules/ directory PARTIAL Correct base directory, but TWO different sub-structures coexist (root vs src/lib/)

Overall Score: 3/9 PASS, 5/9 PARTIAL, 1/9 FAIL

Detailed Findings

Finding 1: Dual-File Problem (CRITICAL)

Every generated module now has TWO sets of files at conflicting paths:

modules/trainer-management/
├── models/trainer.model.ts ← NEW (LLM-generated, good quality)
├── services/trainer.repository.ts ← NEW (LLM-generated, good quality)
├── components/trainer-list/... ← NEW (LLM-generated, good quality)
├── trainer-management.routes.ts ← NEW (LLM-generated)
└── src/lib/
├── models/trainer.model.ts ← OLD (scaffold garbage: duplicate id, all string)
    ├── services/trainer-management.service.ts ← OLD (scaffold garbage: 100% of(null))
    └── trainer-management.module.ts ← OLD (scaffold)

Root cause: The LLM generates files at modules/{name}/models/ etc. (matching the prompt's file structure), but generateScaffoldFiles() also runs and writes to modules/{name}/src/lib/. The scaffold is NOT being suppressed when LLM extraction succeeds.

Impact: The module barrel exports (src/index.ts) point to src/lib/, so any consumer would import the OLD garbage code, not the new LLM-generated code.

Finding 2: Zero HTML/SCSS Template Files (CRITICAL)

Across all 5 modules, not a single .html or .scss file was generated. Component .ts files reference:

templateUrl: './trainer-list.component.html',
styleUrl: './trainer-list.component.scss',

But these files don't exist. This means every component would fail to compile.

Likely cause: The LLM may be generating HTML files, but extractCodeFiles() might only be extracting .ts files. Or the LLM is not generating them due to the 8-file-per-module instruction in the prompt (8 files = models + services + 3 components × .ts only + routes + module + index).

Finding 3: EXECUTE.output.files Not Stored in MongoDB (SIGNIFICANT)

The API returns output: {} (empty object) for the EXECUTE phase. Files ARE written to disk but NOT persisted in the generation checkpoint. This means:

Finding 4: Scaffold Quality Unchanged (MEDIUM)

The scaffold fallback (generateScaffoldFiles()) still produces the same garbage:

Finding 5: Per-Module Quality Breakdown

Modules where LLM extraction succeeded (NEW files present):

Module LLM Files Quality
trainer-management 5 new .ts at root ✅ Good — proper types, inject(), HttpClient, signals
class-management 5 new .ts at root ⚠️ Good structure, but fitnessclasss pluralization bug (triple s)
attendance-tracking 3 new .ts at root ⚠️ Minimal — dashboard component is nearly empty (just loading.set(false))
workout-tracking 3 new .ts at root ⚠️ Minimal — same pattern as attendance

Modules where only scaffold ran:

Module LLM Files Quality
studio-analytics-dashboard 0 at root ❌ Only scaffold — 100% of(null), duplicate fields, all string types
booking-system 0 at root ❌ Only scaffold — identical to pre-fix

Finding 6: Specific Code Issues in LLM-Generated Files

Issue Severity Where Example
changeDetection: 0 instead of enum Medium All components Should be ChangeDetectionStrategy.OnPush
No takeUntilDestroyed() on subscribe Medium Components Violates ABSOLUTE BAN #9 in prompt
.patch() instead of .put() Low Repositories this.http.patch<Trainer>(...)
Attendance TrackingRoutes (space in identifier) High attendance-tracking.routes.ts Syntax error — won't compile
Empty component bodies Medium attendance, workout ngOnInit(): void { this.loading.set(false); } — no real logic
Pluralization bug Medium class-management fitnessclasss (triple s) in URLs

What Worked (Wins)

  1. extractCodeFiles() is extracting LLM output — This is the breakthrough. Tests 1-8 had null. Now we get real files.
  2. LLM code quality is dramatically better — trainer-management model has proper union types, DTOs, optional fields. Service uses real HttpClient with typed generics.
  3. Backend stability — No crashes, no OOM despite maxTokens 32768.
  4. No Angular Material — The ABSOLUTE BAN in the prompt is being respected.
  5. inject() pattern adopted — All new components use inject() not constructor injection.
  6. Signal-based state — Components use signal() for reactive state.

Recommended Next Steps (Priority Order)

P0: Fix the Dual-File / Scaffold Suppression

When extractCodeFiles() returns >0 files for a module, generateScaffoldFiles() should NOT run. Or: delete old src/lib/ files before writing new ones. The barrel export (src/index.ts) must point to the new file locations.

P0: Generate HTML/SCSS Templates

Either: (a) increase the file budget per module from 8 to include .html/.scss, (b) split generation into two LLM calls (TS first, then templates), or (c) add a post-generation step that creates template files from the component .ts.

P0: Persist Files to MongoDB Checkpoint

EXECUTE.output.files must be populated so the frontend counter works and the INTEGRATE phase can proceed.

P1: Fix changeDetection: 0 → ChangeDetectionStrategy.OnPush

Add to auto-correction.service.ts: detect numeric changeDetection: 0 and replace with the enum import + reference.

P1: Fix the Routes Syntax Error

Attendance TrackingRoutes has a space — likely a slugification bug. The route constant name should be AttendanceTrackingRoutes.

P1: Add takeUntilDestroyed() to All Subscribes

Either via prompt enforcement or auto-correction post-processing.

P2: Fix Pluralization

fitnessclasss → fitnessclasses. The pluralization utility needs a special case for words ending in ss.

P2: Improve Scaffold Fallback

Even as a fallback, it should produce better code. Apply Phase 2 fixes (dedup, type inference, camelCase) that were supposed to be implemented.

Bug 10 Confirmation

The Vibe page at http://localhost:6200/...modgen-6b995d73 became completely unresponsive after generation completed. JavaScript execution and screenshots both timeout. This is Bug 10 (page freeze after generation) — still present.
