๐Ÿšจ Fix Space Slug Issue NOW

Date: October 31, 2025
Status: โšก IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
Issue: Your space has cached data with wrong slug from before our fix

๐Ÿ” The Problem (From Your Logs)

{
  spaceId: 'space_68fbe3ac4740d821e041f9df',
  spaceSlug: 'editor', // โŒ WRONG (from URL)
  name: 'My space' // โœ… Correct
}

Expected:

{
  spaceSlug: 'my-space'  // โœ… Generated from name
}

Why? Your space was created before our slug generation fix and is cached with the wrong slug!

โšก Quick Fix (1 Minute)

Option 1: Use Browser Console (EASIEST)

  1. Open browser console (F12 or Cmd+Option+I)

  2. Run this command:

    clearCachedSpaceData()

  3. You'll see:

    ๐Ÿงน Starting cache cleanup...
    ๐Ÿ“ฆ Clearing localStorage...
      โœ… Removing: space_68fbe3ac4740d821e041f9df
      โœ… Removing: gg:mc:space_68fbe3ac4740d821e041f9df
    โœ… Removed 15 items from localStorage
    ๐Ÿ—„๏ธ  Clearing IndexedDB...
    โœ… Deleted IndexedDB: gograb-space
    ๐Ÿ”„ Clearing sessionStorage...
    โœ… sessionStorage cleared

    ๐ŸŽ‰ Cache cleanup complete!
    ๐Ÿ”„ Please refresh the page to recreate space with correct slug.

  4. Refresh the page (Cmd+R or F5)

  5. Verify in logs:

    spaceSlug: 'my-space'  // โœ… CORRECT!
    name: 'My space'

Option 2: Manual Cleanup

If the utility doesn't work, run this directly in console:

// Clear localStorage
Object.keys(localStorage).forEach(key => {
  if (key.includes('space_') || key.includes('gg:') || key.includes('flash:')) {
    localStorage.removeItem(key);
  }
});

// Clear IndexedDB
indexedDB.deleteDatabase('gograb-space');

// Clear sessionStorage
sessionStorage.clear();

// Refresh
location.reload();

โœ… What to Expect After Fix

Before (Wrong) โŒ

URL: http://localhost:5200/editor/dashboard
Space: {
  name: 'My space',
  spaceSlug: 'editor' // โŒ From URL
}

After (Correct) โœ…

URL: http://localhost:5200/my-space/dashboard
Space: {
  name: 'My space',
  spaceSlug: 'my-space'  // โœ… From name!
}

๐ŸŽฏ Your Architecture Questions Answered

"Should the user have an array with the different spaces it belongs to?"

YES! โœ…

"And the space should also have an object with members."

YES! โœ…

Proper Architecture:

// User Model
interface User {
  id: string;
  email: string;
  name: string;

  // โœ… Array of spaces user has access to
  spaces: SpaceReference[];

  defaultSpaceId: string;
}

interface SpaceReference {
  spaceId: string;
  role: 'owner' | 'admin' | 'member' | 'viewer';
  joinedAt: string;
}

// Space Model
interface Space {
  id: string;
  name: string;

  // โœ… Generated from name, NEVER from URL
  spaceSlug: string;

  ownerId: string;

  // โœ… Array of members
  members: SpaceMember[];

  universeIds: string[];
}

interface SpaceMember {
  userId: string;
  role: 'owner' | 'admin' | 'member' | 'viewer';
  permissions: string[];
  joinedAt: string;
}

๐Ÿ” Verify the Fix

After clearing cache and refreshing, check these in console:

// 1. Check current space
console.log(window.__spaceService__.currentSpace());
// Should show: { name: 'My space', spaceSlug: 'my-space' }

// 2. Navigate to dashboard
window.location.href = '/my-space/dashboard';
// URL should be: /my-space/dashboard (not /editor/dashboard)

// 3. Check logs
// Should see: [SpaceGuard] Space initialized: { spaceSlug: 'my-space' }

๐Ÿš€ Next Steps

  1. โœ… Clear cache (run clearCachedSpaceData())
  2. โœ… Refresh page
  3. โœ… Verify slug is now "my-space"
  4. โœ… Update URL from /editor/dashboard to /my-space/dashboard
  5. ๐Ÿ”„ Implement multi-space architecture (see MULTI-SPACE-ARCHITECTURE.md)

๐Ÿ“Š Status Check

Run this in console to check if issue is fixed:

const space = window.__spaceService__?.currentSpace?.();
const status = {
  spaceName: space?.name,
  spaceSlug: space?.spaceSlug,
  isCorrect: space?.spaceSlug === space?.name?.toLowerCase().replace(/\s+/g, '-'),
  expected: space?.name?.toLowerCase().replace(/\s+/g, '-')
};

console.table(status);

if (status.isCorrect) {
  console.log('โœ… Space slug is CORRECT!');
} else {
  console.log('โŒ Space slug is WRONG! Run: clearCachedSpaceData()');
}

๐ŸŽ‰ Summary

The Fix is Already Implemented! โœ…

Your cached data just needs to be cleared so the corrected code can run and regenerate the slug properly.

Action Required: Run clearCachedSpaceData() in console, then refresh! ๐Ÿš€
