🎯 Core Components

1. SyncEngineService (Heart of the System)

Location: libs/core-angular/src/lib/services/sync-engine.service.ts

Responsibilities:

Key Insight: Every data operation in the entire system goes through SyncEngine. No exceptions. Always fast.

2. ModularStorageService (Module Isolation)

Location: libs/storage-system/src/modular/modular-storage.service.ts

Responsibilities:

Key Insight: Each of your 12+ modules (Singularity, SpaceMap, Editor, etc.) can have custom data behavior while maintaining offline-first performance.

3. MigrationService (Seamless Upgrades)

Location: libs/core-angular/src/lib/services/migration.service.ts

Responsibilities:

Key Insight: Existing users upgrade automatically without data loss.

📋 Implementation Details

What We Refactored

SpaceService (Complete Overhaul)

Before: 150+ lines of dual code paths (API vs local)
After: 40 lines of unified offline-first code

// BEFORE: Complex dual paths
if (this._isOnline() && this.spaceApi.isConnected()) {
  // API path (50+ lines)
} else {
  // Local path (50+ lines)
}

// AFTER: Simple unified path
const space = await this.syncEngine.read('space_user-123');
if (!space) {
  space = await this.createNewSpace(userId);
}
// Done! Always fast, always works

Main.ts (SyncEngine Initialization)

Added automatic SyncEngine initialization:

Environment Configuration

Added comprehensive sync configuration to environment.shared.ts:

🎯 Environment Mode Support

Mock Mode (Development)

useMockApi: true

Perfect For:

Sync Behavior: ❌ Disabled (100% local)

Real Mode - Railway (Production)

useMockApi: false
backendApiUrl: BACKEND_URLS.railway

Perfect For:

Sync Behavior: ✅ Enabled (background sync to cloud)

Real Mode - Local (Development)

useMockApi: false
backendApiUrl: BACKEND_URLS.local

Perfect For:

Sync Behavior: ✅ Enabled (background sync to local MongoDB)

🧩 Module System Integration

Module Data Strategies

Modules can now declare how their data should be handled:

export const SingularityManifest: ModuleManifest = {
  id: 'singularity',
  dataStrategy: {
    storage: {
      primary: 'offline-first',      // Base strategy
      collections: {
        'workflows': {
          sync: 'lazy', // Sync when convenient
          cache: 'aggressive', // Keep in memory
          ttl: 86400000              // 24 hour TTL
        },
        'ai-models': {
          sync: 'on-demand', // Only when needed
          storage: 'chunked' // Break into pieces
        }
      }
    }
  }
};

🔧 Testing Instructions

Quick Test (Mock Mode)

# 1. Ensure mock mode
# In apps/gograb-space/src/environments/environment.ts:
useMockApi: true

# 2. Start app
npx nx serve gograb-space

# 3. Open browser to http://localhost:4200
# 4. Create a universe
# 5. Check console: Should see "⚡ Universe created (offline-first)"
# 6. Check Network tab: Should see NO API calls
# 7. Refresh page: Universe should still be there

Full Test (Real Mode)

# 1. Switch to real mode
# In environment.ts:
useMockApi: false
backendApiUrl: BACKEND_URLS.railway

# 2. Restart app
# 3. Create a universe
# 4. Check console: Should see sync queue messages
# 5. Wait 5 seconds
# 6. Check Network tab: Should see background API call
# 7. Go offline (DevTools → Network → Offline)
# 8. Create another universe (should still work!)
# 9. Go online: Should sync automatically
