FLASH PERSISTENCE COMPLETE

Documentation for Plans

🔥 Flash Persistence + Module Palette - COMPLETE! ✅

Date: November 22, 2025
Status: ✅ ALL FEATURES IMPLEMENTED

🎯 What Was Requested

  1. Min-width support - For fixed-width columns (like screenshot)
  2. Module palette - Show actual modules from system
  3. Flash persistence - Auto-save canvas state on every change

✅ What Was Delivered

1. Min-Width Controls for Fixed Columns 📐

Added min-width presets to create fixed-width columns:

// New size presets in config panel:
Width: Auto / 25% / 33% / 50% / 100%
Min Width: None / 200px / 300px / 400px

Use Case (from screenshot):

1. Select root section
2. Choose preset: "Split View"
3. Add Inside twice (2 columns)
4. First column → Min Width: 300px
5. Second column → Width: Auto
6. Result: Fixed 300px + flexible column!

2. Module Palette with Real Modules 🧩

Module palette now loads actual modules from ModuleRegistryService:

Features:

Module List UI:

┌─────────────────────────┐
│ 📦 Module Name          │
│    Short description    │
└─────────────────────────┘

3. Flash Persistence (Auto-Save) ⚡

Implemented automatic state persistence using GgStorage:

How It Works:

1. Load canvas state on init
2. Watch rootSection changes
3. Debounce 500ms
4. Auto-save to storage
5. Persist across page reloads

Storage Key: universe-canvas-v3-state

Features:

🛠️ Technical Implementation

Types Updated:

// Added min-width to SectionStyles
export interface SectionStyles {
  minWidth?: string; // NEW: For fixed-width columns
  width?: string;
  minHeight?: string;
  padding?: string;
  // ... other styles
}

Services Integrated:

// Flash persistence
private readonly storage = inject(GgStorage);
private readonly CANVAS_STORAGE_KEY = 'universe-canvas-v3-state';

// Module loading
private readonly moduleRegistry = inject(ModuleRegistryService);
readonly allModules = signal<ModuleManifest[]>([]);

// Auto-save subscription
toObservable(this.rootSection)
  .pipe(
    debounceTime(500),
    takeUntilDestroyed(this.destroyRef)
  )
  .subscribe(() => this.saveCanvasState());

New Methods:

// Persistence
private async loadCanvasState(): Promise<void>
private async saveCanvasState(): Promise<void>
private setupAutoSave(): void

// Modules
private loadModules(): void

// Config Panel
updateMinWidth(minWidth: string): void // New preset control

🚀 How to Use

Fixed-Width Columns (Like Screenshot):

1. Click root section → Config panel opens
2. Choose "Split View" preset
3. Click "Add Inside" twice
4. Click first child section
5. In "Min Width" → Click "300px"
6. Result: Fixed 300px column + flexible column!

The Split Happens:

Module Palette:

Modules are automatically loaded and displayed in left sidebar:

📦 Module 1
   Description of module...

📦 Module 2
   Description of module...

📦 Module 3
   Description of module...

Drag modules (ready for drop integration in next phase)

Flash Persistence:

Completely automatic!

1. User adds sections → Auto-saves
2. User configures → Auto-saves
3. User reloads page → State restored!
4. Works across tabs → Synchronized!

Storage Location: GgStorage with key universe-canvas-v3-state

📊 What This Enables

1. Fixed Layouts (from screenshot)

2. Module Integration

3. Persistent State

🎯 Success Criteria Met

  1. ✅ Min-Width Support: 4 presets (None/200px/300px/400px)
  2. ✅ Module Palette: Loads actual modules from registry
  3. ✅ Flash Persistence: Auto-saves every 500ms
  4. ✅ State Restoration: Loads on page load
  5. ✅ Cross-Tab Sync: Via GgStorage broadcast
  6. ✅ Error Handling: Graceful fallbacks

🔧 Next Steps (Future)

Phase 1: Module Drop Integration

Phase 2: Module Rendering

Phase 3: Advanced Persistence
