Phase Creation Script

Overview

Intelligent automation script that creates a complete phase documentation structure in ~30 seconds.

Usage

cd /docs/english/Templates/phases-template/
./create-phase.sh <phase-number> <project-path> "<phase-name>"

Examples

# Create Phase 10 for GoGrab Space user journey
./create-phase.sh 10 GoGrab-Space/user-journey "Production Launch"

# Create Phase 2 for Universe Restructure
./create-phase.sh 2 GoGrab-Space/universe-restructure "Integration Phase"

# Create Phase 1 for new project
./create-phase.sh 1 MyProject/phases "Initial Setup"

What It Does Automatically

1. Validates Input - Checks for required arguments
2. Checks Previous Context - Looks for phase-[N-1]/context/ folder
3. Creates Structure - Makes phase-X/ and context/ directories
4. Copies Templates - All 5 template files
5. Customizes Content:
   • Replaces "Phase X" with actual phase number
   • Fills in current date and time
   • Updates phase names throughout
6. Creates Context README - Documentation for context folder
7. Runs Docs Scan - Optionally updates documentation system

Smart Detection

• Detects if previous phase has context folder
• Shows list of context files to read
• Warns if phase already exists

Customization

• Automatically fills in:
  • Current date (November 10, 2025)
  • Current time (10:30 AM)
  • Phase number throughout files
  • Phase name in frontmatter

Interactive

• Asks before overwriting existing phase
• Optionally runs docs:scan after creation
• Provides next steps guide

Requirements

• Bash shell
• Access to /docs/english/ directory
• Templates in /Templates/phases-template/

Error Handling

• Exits on missing arguments
• Checks if phase already exists
• Validates paths before creating
• Sets executable permissions automatically

Next Steps After Running

1. Read previous phase context (if shown by script)
2. Customize remaining placeholders in generated files
3. Fill in phase-specific details (goals, timeline, etc.)
4. Start working on phase!
