📋 Decision Context

Question:

How to fix Bug 13 (code files not written to disk) and Bug 10+14 (page freeze + backend crash from oversized SSE payloads)?

Task: S139 fix file writing + SSE payload crash

🎯 Decision Made

Chosen:

Two fixes: (1) Replaced HTTP POST to backend-ai-api/write-files with direct fs.writeFile in backend-vitto-api — no cross-service dependency. (2) Stripped modules[] and files[] arrays from module-gen.completed SSE event, keeping only moduleNames[] and lightweight deployResult. manifestJSON is still included since the frontend needs it.

Options Considered:

  1. Keep cross-service HTTP call to backend-ai-api for file writing (current broken approach)
  2. Move file writing directly into backend-vitto-api with fs.writeFile + strip massive SSE payload

💭 Reasoning

Bug 13 failed because the HTTP call to backend-ai-api depends on that service running. During test, all backends crashed (Bug 14), making the HTTP call impossible. The file writing logic is trivial (fs.mkdir + fs.writeFile) and shouldn't require a cross-service call. Moving it in-process eliminates the dependency entirely. Bug 10+14 are caused by the module-gen.completed SSE event packing ALL module data (entities, actions, embeddables for 5 modules) plus ALL generated code files into a single SSE message. For 5 modules with full schema, this can be 1-5MB of JSON that both the backend must serialize and the frontend must parse in one synchronous operation. Stripping to just moduleNames[] reduces the payload by 95%+ while the frontend only ever reads manifestJSON from this event. The full module data is already persisted to MongoDB — sending it over SSE is redundant.
